Qld: Pair arrested after stealing taxi
A couple will face court on Monday on charges of stealing after driving off in a taxi
from inner Brisbane.
A 22-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man 30 hailed the Black and White cab in Adelaide
Street about 5.30am (AEST) today .. directing the driver to go to Manly West.
Police say during the trip .. the couple advised the driver they could not afford the
full fare .. leading to an argument which culminated in the driver stopping the car and
running away for his safety.
The couple are alleged to have driven off with the vehicle .. which was found abandoned
in bushland at Tingalpa a short time later.
Police found the pair nearby and have since charged them with robbery .. unlawful use
of a motor vehicle .. wilful damage and stealing.
They are expected to appear in Wynnum Magistrates Court on Monday.
